4th of July Festivities

We started with a patriotic breakfast of blueberry pancakes!

This year it was pouring when we woke up so we skipped the parade. Instead, we waited out the rain, cleaned and got ready for our families to come over for an afternoon picnic. It was a dreadfully hot day, but we had a lot of fun and tasty food – including our first watermelon of the summer.

After everyone left and we rested and cleaned up, we played with some sparklers my dad had brought us and watched the fireworks the neighbors were setting off.

He was super excited

This was way more fun than expected

Some experimenting
